If Winter Comes...
Today when there is a snow flurry and everything visible from my window is white, I suddenly recall a little incident that happened when I was in school. In the extempore competition, I was asked to speak on the topic " If winter comes, can spring be far behind?". Needless to say, I faltered badly and embarassed myself to hell.
That question meant nothing to me. Not only because it was difficult to get a perspective because of being so young, but also because winter means little in India. In fact, it was my favourite season till a year ago. It was nice and cool ,you could actually enjoy the sun and your ability to cope with the winter was not dependent on the fickle nature of electricity. But spring meant even little. Having read so much about the flowers and blooms and the nice weather of spring, I and my friends often used to dicuss when spring actually came?? It seemed to me that summer took over as soon as winter went by!
But having lived through two 'real' winters now, I am sure I can do a much better job on this topic. Spring is really cool and I cant wait to get through winter. It doesnt matter whether spring is far behind or not, what really gives me hope that there will be a day when this bleak weather will go away and we shall have some sunshine and warmth. Amen!

I know how you feel! I have been in this wretched place for 2 years and I long for warmth and sunshine! The winters are horribly cold, long and depressing. When the sun does come out, it is as if the heavens above are holding it for ransom....and looking down on earth saying " you can only have it for a few minutes." :-(...I hope summer, sunshine and warmth comes soon! (wishful thinking but one can hope!)
